Having to Ferry Your Teen Children Everywhere

When living away from the centre of city, having to ferry your teen children everywhere is a very serious issue for many families even with good teens.

Teens tend to experience an unhealthy dependency on parents. They can’t plan and socialize without parents having to drive them everywhere. It leads to a serious lack of freedom, that affects negatively their capability to plan their non-school related life and it demotivates them to find venues that might be creative and interesting for them.

This limitation generates frequent serious frictions, especially as teens tend to not be punctual. Everybody gets upset in the process.  I saw good teens dealing with so much frustration and anger around these issues that they become obsessed with wanting to leave home in order to be able to live in a city next to public transport and feel free to organize their time and have a life.
